Trinity Advent Hope

Hello Trinity Friends!

This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent!  We light the candle of hope and share the sacrament of Holy Communion together.  At Trinity we have an “open table,” where all people, regardless of age, status or denomination are invited to receive communion. Communion is served early in the service while young people are still present.

Young people will then continue downstairs where they will be rehearsing for their upcoming Christmas pageant.  Young children and children who will be away during the pageant will have an opportunity to hear the Christmas story and do a Christmas craft with one of our Sunday School teachers.

Wednesday December 3rd  Trinity Arts presents –  “A reading of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with seasonal music”

Come out and join your friends for an enchanting evening sure to put you into the seasonal mood. Charles Dickens’ timeless classic “A Christmas Carol” is a story of laughter and redemption—shared by talented musicians, gifted story-tellers, and an atmosphere of insight, humour, and warmth.  The sing-a-long begins at 6:30 and is followed by the readings at 7 pm.  Tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and refreshments will be served.  In true Dickens fashion, all ticket proceeds go to North Bay’s soup kitchen, “The Gathering Place.”

Come early and enjoy a good old country dinner with the Friends of Camp Caritou.  Dinner is from 5 – 7 pm and is $15 Adults and $10 for 12 and under.  Meat pie, veg, desserts and more will be served!

Sunday December 7th  White Gift Sunday, 10:30 am

Gifts of non-perishable food items, money, or other items that may bring comfort to those in need are gathered by the Sunday School children during the service.  See the letter and list of needed items posted on the bulletin board in the Sunday School hall.

As we journey into the first week of Advent we light the candle of hope. What do we hope and long for deep in our hearts? What does God hope for us? How can we offer hope to those for whom Christmas is a stressful time?

This week may you be a beacon of hope to those who need it and may your week be filled with light and love!
