Minister

Reverend Ted Harrison

Ted Harrison was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Canada in the year 2000. After serving nine years at Trinity United Church in Lively, Ontario, he joined our Trinity United Church to minister with us and our wonderful staff team.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. His Masters is from Emmanuel College (University of Toronto), and his Doctoral degree in ministry is from St. Stephen’s College (University of Alberta). He is an active writer, workshop leader, and spiritual director.

Ted has a strong passion for worship which is grounded in the richness of the Christian tradition, while being responsive to the needs of the people and the world around us. He has a high regard for other faiths. He loves music, including rock, blues, and jazz, and he uses humour liberally. He keeps us on our toes on Sunday mornings with worship services that ask for our engagement and participation. Says Ted, “If our faith isn’t flexible, if it doesn’t speak in a language we understand, or respond to the joys and challenges of modern life – what good is it?”

Ted’s favourite aspects of life at Trinity are our fantastic food, our family atmosphere, our willingness to laugh, and the staff colleagues who inspire him to get up even on the coldest, rainiest Monday mornings!

Ted is married to Caroline, who is a physiotherapist at our local hospital. They have two young daughters: Eve and Erin, who are amongst Ted’s greatest teachers. He’s a voracious reader, a jogger, cross-country skier, hiker, and dedicated canoeist.

Ted can be contacted by email at HotMinister: Ted, or in person.
