Hello Trinity Friends,
This Sunday we celebrate Saint Francis Sunday by offering an animal blessing. Furry friends are welcome in our Sanctuary space to be blessed. Mementos or photos of your furry friends or your favourite “stuffie” are also welcome!
This Sunday we also honour Orange Shirt Day – you are encouraged to wear your Orange shirts or the colour orange. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – also known as Orange Shirt Day takes place on September 30th (or a Sunday close to that date in church). We wear orange to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacy of the residential school system in Canada. Check your bulletin to discover other ways that you can participate in honouring the day. Also, don’t forget to check out Trinity’s library!
There are a couple of announcements to share and a list of upcoming events at the end of this email. Please keep reading!
Mitts for Outreach
Sharen Liddell, has for many years, provided hats and mitts for our Food shelf and for our Christmas Gift Bag Outreach. As the number of under-homed people has risen sharply in our community, she has begun to make mitts that are water resistant. She is looking for material that is pliable and could be used as on outerlayer for her cozy mitts. If you have old bbq covers, outdoor furniture covers, or any other similar material please place in a bag and bring to the church and give to Jim Liddell or Lisa Blais. Thank-you!

Volunteer Opportunities
Other than the Apple Pies, we are always looking for volunteers to fill various positions in the church. See below for some ideas of how you can help your church!
Ushers or Lift Operators for Performance Dates
Would you like to help out AND attend a show for free? We are often looking for ushers and lift operators for the shows we are hosting. We are looking for a lift operator for the Great Gatsby shows: Wednesday October 22nd through to Saturday October 25th and Sunday October 26th. Contact Sue Miller if you are interested! millersue2017@gmail.com
Tech Support
Are you interested in learning how to operate the sound board or our Video tech? We will provide training – it is not as complicated as you might think! We are in need of new people to join our tech crew as some of our other helpers have moved away for school! Speak with John Roberts or Marcel MacDonald if interested.
Ushers or Greeters
Each Sunday we rely on volunteers to offer a warm welcome to our Church in the narthex. We also rely on Ushers to hand out Church bulletins, and assist with collecting the offering. If you are interested in helping out as an usher or greeter please leave your name and contact info with our Board Chair, Amanda Silk or one of the the staff members and we will put you in touch with the appropriate committee!
Sunday School Helpers
Youth volunteers are always welcome to assist with younger children in our Sunday School program – highschool volunteer hours can be earned. We are also in need of people willing to lead Sunday School lessons. Lessons will be created for you and will consist of an activity that you are most comfortable in. Please speak with Lisa Blais or Marcel MacDonald for more information.
