What does Ted do?
Ted’s ministry focuses on worship leadership (including weddings and funerals), pastoral care (visiting and counselling), and the typical day-to-day operations of our big and busy church. Ted keeps Trinity focussed on who we are and why we’re here. He makes sure we keep a sense of humour while staying faithful to our story!
Ted on Trinity:
“Trinity has somehow achieved that rare balance between the closeness of a rural family church, and the wide reach and diversity of a larger urban church. I love how we care for each other, care for the world– and particularly that we appreciate the many ways in which those things can happen: through service, through music, through art, good humour, and study.”

Rev. Kathleen McCallum
Rev. Kathleen McCallum
Minister Emerita
Who is Kathleen?
After 24 years of full-time ministry, Kathy retired in 2009 as the lead minister at Trinity United Church. But we at Trinity have all grown so attached to her that we celebrate Kathy as our “Minister Emerita.” We look to Kathy for additional worship leadership, including occasional Sunday mornings, weddings, and funerals.
What does Kathy do?
Kathy is a gifted preacher, and worship leader, teacher and caregiver. It’s often said about Kathy that she knows how to speak the hard truths that people need to hear—the Bible calls this the gift of “speaking the truth in love.” When Kathy is not helping out at other North Bay-area United Churches, she and Rich can often be found at Trinity on Sunday mornings, community meals, and other occasions.
Kathy on Trinity:
I love the ‘family’ atmosphere at Trinity. The vibe at Trinity is energetic, lively, welcoming, caring, faith-filled, and very intergenerational. It gives me a wonderful feeling to see the children swinging around the posts in the Sunday School Hall, just as generations before them have done, taking part in the services, and acting and feeling completely at home. To see our ‘older’ members chatting with the children is wonderful.

Betty Farris
Minister of Music
Who is Betty?
Betty Farris is a retired North Bay music teacher who continues to enjoy teaching and sharing her love of music.
Betty has been a church musician for many years. She’s married to another retired teacher, Rob Farris. They have 2 children: Laura and Dave. Betty’s passion is spending time with her little granddaughters, Kaydence and Nevaeh. She also enjoys travelling, reading, square dancing, skiing, canoeing and gardening.
In addition to directing Trinity’s Senior Choir and accompanying the children’s choir, Betty also co-directs the J.O.Y. Concert Band—a Trinity outreach project of some sixty people of all ages who gather to share the gift of instrumental music with the North Bay community.
About Betty’s Work:
At Trinity we recognize that peoples’ understanding of God is usually best expressed in the music that we sing and play. Music has a way of expressing our faith that encompasses the head AND the heart.
Betty collaborates with Ted to ensure that our music draws on classical and contemporary sources, on piano, organ and guitar, on orchestral instruments and on voices. She ensures that we invite musicians of all ages from in and beyond the Trinity community, bringing richness and depth to our experience of the holy.
A Word from Betty:
“Ever since my family and I arrived at Trinity, we’ve felt like we’re at home. There are activities for people of all ages, and everyone is very welcoming. At Trinity there is a lightness and joy about worship—we take God seriously, without taking ourselves too seriously! One way that happens is through music that explores the mystery, the majesty, and the deep joy of faith!”
