Greetings Trinity Friends on this chilly Friday morning,
This Sunday marks the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. In our worship this week, Rev. Ted invites us to explore “Faith as a Team Sport”. The children continue that exploration in Sunday School where they will begin a rotation on the Call of the Disciples.
Later in the afternoon, all are invited to celebrate the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, at Pro Cathedral. Many local church congregations will join together to celebrate and sing as “One Body, One Spirit”. Come and sing hymns and enjoy anthems by several church choirs – including Trinity’s. Sunday January 18th at 2 pm.
Next week, we celebrate Robbie Burns’ Day. Scottish attire is highly encouraged!
What better way to warm up on a chilly day than with (several) bowls of delicious soup! Bring your appetite to Trinity on Friday January 30th for our highly anticipated Soup Tasting Evening, hosted by the AOTS! Sample several varieties of soup, accompanied by home-made buns, bread and salad and finish with coffee, tea and dessert. $10 Adults, $8 Students (6 & under free).
Do you have a favourite family soup recipe that you’d be willing to make and share for our soup tasting evening? Or perhaps you are a baker and would be willing to bake bread, buns or cupcakes? If so, the AOTS would welcome your contributions. Please sign up in the Fellowship Hall or reach out to a member of the AOTS or Trinity staff to sign you up. Thank you for helping to make this another successful evening!
SAYING ‘GOODBYE’ TO THE FAMILY HOME?
– Tips, Tricks, and Laughs to Help You Move On.
On Sunday, February 1st, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Trinity United Church invites you to a legendary gathering worthy of your best moving-day sweatpants. We’re welcoming Mary Pat Sullivan, PhD, MSW, BSW, RSW—registered social worker, Professor of Social Gerontology and Social Work at Nipissing University, and, rumour has it, someone who knows a thing or two about packing up emotional baggage (and probably actual baggage). Dr. Sullivan—plus a squad of her fourth-year students from the world-famous Gerontological Social Work course—will be serving up wisdom on what to expect when you’re expecting… to leave the family home. The session is free (because who wants to pay when you’re already losing your favourite bathroom?) Please RSVP to Peggy in the church office before Wednesday, January 28th
Food Shelf – Urgent Appeal
Our food shelf cupboard has run out of Toilet Paper. This is a non-budgeted item and we rely on donations through the TP North Bay campaign and other donors. Please consider purchasing an extra package (or two) of toilet paper when you’re shopping. Donations can be left in the food shelf area or in the basket in the narthex. Thank you for supporting this effort.
Also, with the cold weather, we are in need of good, clean winter clothing. Gloves, warm socks, sweaters and winter coats would be most welcome.
