Trinity United Church North Bay

Happy Friday Trinity Friends,

This Sunday we are celebrating Epiphany Sunday.  Rev. Ted’s meditation is titled: “Awe Aha Wow Whoa”.  There is a whole lot going on in that statement – join us this Sunday at 10:30 to find out what it all means!

November saw an exciting “Faith Forward” voting exercise to determine the will of the Trinity family with regards to the future of our ministry in our aging building. A “Tier One” Renovation to modernize our building, accommodating us to better share our building received the most ballots. Work and costs will go above repairing our church building for safety and longevity (at a cost of perhaps $1 million).

The Trinity Board will be considering next steps– we need your talent and energy to create working groups dedicated to: Planning, Fundraising, seeking our viable Partnerships, Engineering, and applying for Sponsorships, Grants and Loans. We need your energy, your help, your ideas, and your prayers! If you’d like to be involved in the planning or have an idea for a renovation project that “sparks joy” we want to hear from you!  Please speak with Amanda Silk or Rev. Ted AND don’t forget to fill out your slip of paper with your idea that “sparks joy” for our building refresh!

The highly anticipated SOUP TASTING evening, hosted by the AOTS, is happening on January 30th at 5 pm. Come enjoy some delicious soups, buns, & desserts. There is always a great variety of soups to choose from – which one will be your favourite?
If you are able to contribute a soup, buns or cupcakes for this event, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall or speak to a member of the AOTS.

‘Saying Goodbye to the Family Home? – Tips, Tricks, and Laughs to Help You Move On.
On Sunday, February 1st, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Trinity United Church invites you to a legendary gathering worthy of your best moving-day sweatpants. We’re welcoming Mary Pat Sullivan, PhD, MSW, BSW, RSW—registered social worker, Professor of Social Gerontology and Social Work at Nipissing University, and, rumour has it, someone who knows a thing or two about packing up emotional baggage (and probably actual baggage). Dr. Sullivan—plus a squad of her fourth-year students from the world-famous Gerontological Social Work course—will be serving up wisdom on what to expect when you’re expecting… to leave the family home. The session is free (because who wants to pay when you’re already losing your favourite bathroom?) Please RSVP to Peggy in the church office before Wednesday, January 28th.

Trinity Family Retreat Weekend – Saturday Feb 14 – Monday Feb 16
This is an all inclusive event which includes accommodations, meals and activities such as: outdoor games,  family worship, campfires, warm indoor activities (including crafts and zumba), a dance party and more!  $125 Adults and Teens and $60 per child (12 and under)  Registration forms can be found on the table outside the church office. Registration is limited to 60 people and closes on February 2nd.

Food Shelf Wish List
Thank you to all those who donated items and money to our food shelf this past year!  We are so grateful for your continued support. Our supply of toilet paper from the Toilet Paper North Bay campaign has run out – please consider donating a package or two of toilet paper to keep our supplies full (this is not a budgeted item so we need your donations!). We are also in need of reusable grocery bags, warm gloves and winter clothing.  There is a basket in the narthex (front foyer) where you can place your items. Thank-you!

See you at Trinity!
