Hello Trinity Friends,
Our Blues Lenten service continues this Sunday February 25th. Rev. Ted writes: “The Catholic theologian Kathleen O’Connor insists that the “Expression of pain is essential to prayer.” At Trinity during the season of Lent, we make an effort to acknowledge the presence of pain and despair in our lives. Hiding or avoiding those emotions can simply give them more power over our lives. Hence, “The Lenten Blues”– because remarkably the Blues often enable us to both name and to transcend our suffering!” This week’s Blues Musicians are the Night Ryders (featuring Trinity member Matt Whitehead on drums).
On this Second Sunday in Lent, we also celebrate Scouting Sunday. We are joined by members of the Scouting community. Trinity is pleased to sponsor local Scouting groups by providing space for them to meet each week!
In Sunday School the children will begin a lesson on Jesus calming the storm. They will relate the real life storm in the bible story to storms in their own lives and discuss how Jesus is in the same boat with them – for stormy times and for good times too.
The United Chill (Caped) Crusaders will be gathering this Saturday February 24th at 4 pm in the parking lot at Algonquin school to participate in this year’s Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser for the Gathering Place. All are welcome to join us for a 2 or 5 km walk in support of easing food insecurity in our community. We will provide a cape and we will walk together.
