Trinity this week – Easter Weekend – April 9, 2023

Hello Trinity Friends,
As we prepare ourselves to journey from the grief of Good Friday to the joy of new life on Easter Sunday, we invite you to join us in worship.  Our Easter Sunday service will include a special musical Easter Communion service.  The Sunday School children will have a chance to hear the Easter message with a special egg hunt.

Before we celebrate Easter Sunday, there are a number of ways to prepare yourself for a deeper connection with the Easter resurrection story with members of our United Church community of faith.

TONIGHT! MAUNDY THURSDAY POTLUCK
On Maundy Thursday (Thursday April 6th ) members of the Trinity Church family are invited to a community potluck supper at St. Andrew’s United Church. Arrive at 5:30 to eat at about 6pm. Please use the McIntyre Street doors. Bring your plate and cutlery, and something “foody” to share. Be prepared for a brief service of worship and communion before we head home (-or maybe to your Easter choir practice!).

GOOD FRIDAY AT OMOND
A shared United Church Good Friday service will take place this year at Omond Memorial United Church at 10:30am (319 McKenzie St.). This shared service will feature a large choir with members from various local United Churches!

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE
The AOTS Men’s Group resumes hosting an EASTER SUNRISE service on Easter morning, April 9th, at 7:30am. Hopefully we will gather at the corner of Ferguson and McIntyre for outside worship, followed by hot cross buns and refreshments inside, courtesy of the AOTS! Trinity and St. Andrew’s have long collaborated on this service, and we welcome members of any church – or no church!

There are a number of announcements to share.  Please continue reading!

Sounds of Silence with Mossy Church – Good Friday, 2 pm Please join us on Good Friday at 2pm at Nippissing University (Parking Lot #8) Cedar Heights Gazebo Our theme is listening and our activity is learning to nature journal. Nature journaling is a lot of fun to share.  All are welcome!
From Karen
“My whole family – kids, parents, grandparents, and brother – have been meeting every week over Zoom to share our nature journals.
With nature journaling, you learn to look closer and find amazing things to share. On Friday, I invite you to join our extended family. We’ll be doing a massive sound map, which will remind us that we are not alone, even when we feel lonely. There are sounds in the silence.”

TRINITY PHOTO DIRECTORY
We are excited to have partnered with Universal Portraits to publish a new photo directory!  There will be absolutely NO pressure to purchase a photo (you will get a free directory anyways), but you are, of course, welcome to purchase your photo if you wish. The photo sittings will take place between May 10th and May 13th. An online booking link can be sent to you by request or you can email/call Lisa Blais to arrange a sitting.

Cellphone Donations Many of us have the good fortune of being able to access new cellphones on a regular basis.  Perhaps you have some old phones around your home that you wonder what to do with?  Why not consider donating one to someone without a phone.  For those experiencing homelessness, it is near impossible to access support without a phone!  If you have a cell phone you are willing to donate, please bring it in and give to Sue Miller or leave at the back of the Sanctuary in the marked container.  Thank you!
Easter Blessings,
