Here is an extra special treat! This week, Rev. Ted’s friend (and dedicated astronomer) Linda Pulliah shares this insight:“Something special is happening in the sky this month. Before sunrise you can look to the east and see two bright objects, Venus and Jupiter. They are unmistakably brilliant, very different from stars. Until the 22nd of this month, the two will appear as if moving closer together. After that date they will appear to split apart again.According to charts of planetary motion, a similar conjunction occurred near the star Regulus (a very bright, blue, hot young star in the constellation Leo) within a few short years of the birth of Jesus. Because of unusual retrograde motions, that conjunction appeared over a much longer period of time—perhaps up to 18 months. It is in times like this I am certain we can use science to back up the wonderful story in the bible. Most people find it hard to understand how astronomy has strengthened my faith, but here’s a perfect example. It’s the season of Epiphany, and this month, this year, we have an opportunity to look east and witness the magic of the real likelihood of a Bethlehem star.Check out the main article for January 10th on www.spaceweather.com
Stay warm,

Trinity this week – Epiphany!

Hello (again) Trinity Friends,
Although I did send an email out yesterday, I realized that there are a couple of other items that needed to be shared!
This Sunday, during Children’s time, we re-visit an old favourite – “Stone Soup.”  You are invited to bring in items that our Stone Soup Chef, John Sheridan, will turn into one of many delicious offerings for next Friday’s soup tasting evening!
This upcoming week is Show week for Mustard Seed’s Cotton Patch Gospel.  This is a show that you will NOT want to miss. Directed by Darlene Laferriere, a very talented cast of youth, along with a fabulous blue grass band will have your toes tapping as they re-tell the story of Jesus as if set in modern day Georgia!  Tickets are available after church this Sunday and also at the door.  See below for more information.
Next Friday January 11th is our annual Soup Tasting evening. 5 – 6:30 pm. $10 per Adult, $8 Children 6 – 12, $25 Family of 4.  Last year we sampled over 20 delicious varieties of soup.  Help is needed with the soup tasting – if you have a delicious soup recipe you have been wanting to try out, or a beloved favourite you want to share, we would be happy to have it for the soup tasting evening – sign up in the Fellowship Hall.
Dinner (or Lunch) and a Show!Following the soup tasting, why not take in the Mustard Seed Production of Cotton Patch Gospel?  OR stay for a sandwich lunch after church next Sunday January 13th and see the matinee performance. You will have 3 opportunities to see the show – Friday January 11th and Saturday January 12th at 7 pm or Sunday January 13th at 1:30 pm.

The following Friday January 18th at 7 pm, we convert our Fellowship Hall into a giant rec room for our Annual Coffee House Talent Night. Sign up your talent in the Fellowship Hall this Sunday.
If you are able to prepare soup, buns, bread or cupcakes for the soup tasting or decadent desserts or a talent to the Coffee House please sign up in the Fellowship Hall.  Thank-you for the many ways you support our Church!

Grace and Peace to you throughout 2019!  See you Sunday,
