Trinity Weekly Update Christmas

Trinity Friends,

As you gather with friends and family this Christmas, may your hearts and homes be filled with joyful laughter, happy memories and love.  For those of you who are travelling, safe travels!  Please remember to hold those who are alone or hurting in prayer and love.

A reminder that tonight is

THE LONGEST NIGHT SERVICE

The Advent and Christmas seasons can inspire profound highs and lows in our lives. On Wednesday Dec. 21st at 7pm, members of Trinity United, along with friends from St. Andrew’s United, will gather for a service of heartfelt string music and candlelit prayer in the Trinity sanctuary. It’s an opportunity for a spacious pause, to contemplate the hopes, fears, and prayers that fill that longest night of the year.

The offices will be closed from Monday December 26th and will re-open on Tuesday January 3rd.  For emergency pastoral care, phones and THIS email will be checked periodically.

Saturday, December 24th  Christmas Eve

       Family Service, 7pm           Communion, 8:15pm

The All ages Family service begins at 7 pm.  We celebrate the Christmas story with scripture, carols and a whole lot of joyful noise.  A brief Communion service will follow shortly after.  All are welcome to both of these services.  Our nursery is available for your convenience and will be staffed (if needed) on Christmas Eve – children of all ages are more than welcome at both services!

Trinity This Week – Advent 4, 2016

Hello Trinity Friends!

This Sunday we light the Advent Candle of Love.  The Choir will be sharing their wonderful gift of music and bringing us into Christmas week with the Cantata”Let the Whole World Sing”. This is always a highly anticipated event – come early for a good seat! Sunday December 18th, 10:30 am

As you prepare your hearts and homes for Christmas, I invite you to take pause and give thanks to all the people who act in courage and love by offering radical and gracious hospitality to those in need this season.  People who donate items or money to an outreach organization, people who volunteer their time to help  and those who invite someone for Christmas dinner who would otherwise be alone – your act of love truly is what Christmas is all about!

Trinity Weekly Update – Advent Joy – Pageant and Potluck!

Hello Trinity friends,

This Sunday we light the advent candle of Joy.  Our candle lighters represent the JOY Bands, the Joyful Bells, and our Junior and Senior Choirs who bring us joy all year round. The Sunday School are very excited to present to you Manger Tales: a heartwarming and funny retelling of the birth of Christ as told by the animals.  Following the pageant, there will be a potluck lunch

Please bring your cold potluck items to the Kitchen or Fellowship Hall before worship on Sunday morning.

An Advent Bible Study with Rev. Kathy, will take place in the Fireside room from 12 – 1…feel free to bring your plate into the fireside room.  

The JOY Band and JOY Band “Too” are presenting their Christmas Concert “Sweet Sounds of Christmas” at 2 pm in the Sanctuary.  A Carol sing-a-long will begin at 1:30.  Admission is by free will offering.  All proceeds to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice and Trinity’s Infant Food Shelf.

AOTS GIFT CARD FUNDRAISER

The last Gift Card opportunity before Christmas is: TODAY

Buying gift cards puts a smile on your face twice.  Initially, you are able to give a gift to that person who you find hard to buy for. Also, remember, since we can get gift cards to be used at your favourite grocery store, it allows you to get your Christmas turkey.  Secondly, it allows you to smile when a youth program is supported financially with funds gained by the AOTS Gift Card Fundraising program. Orders along with cash or cheques are accepted with a smile and Thank you.

Beloved North Bay musician Jim Harney is back in action—he’s bringing his musical friends to accompany Canadian acting legend David Fox (and his friends) as they read Dickens’ timeless tale of rottenness and redemption! Wednesday December 14th, 7 pm (Carol sing-a-long at 6:30 pm). Tickets $15. 12 and under are free. All proceeds to the Gathering Place

Wednesday December the 14th, 2016.  At 6:30pm the Carol Sing-a-Long begins. At 7pm the story and the music kick off!  Trinity United Church, North Bay (Ferguson at McIntyre)  TICKETS: $15 (Kids under 12 are free!). Available at “The Farm,” at the Trinity Office, or at the Door.  Proceeds to “The Gathering Place” (North Bay’s soup kitchen).

It may be some time since you’ve heard the musical stylings of Jim Harney, or the famous acting distinction of the legendary David Fox. Both of them are celebrating the gift of recovery, life, and love with the presentation of “Christmas, a Humbug” at Trinity United Church this Christmas season!

They’ve brought musical friends and thespian colleagues to share in reading, singing, laughing and celebrating Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”

Join us at Trinity United Church (Ferguson at McIntyre) on Wednesday December 14th for our 6:30pm sing-a-long of Christmas favourites, followed by story and music at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and refreshments will be served.

In true Dickens fashion, all ticket proceeds go to North Bay’s soup kitchen, “The Gathering Place.”

Other of David and Jim’s friends lending leadership include: Tracey Halsey, Darlene Leferriere, Rod Carley, Joshua Bainbridge, Ted Chase, Al MacAskill, Bob Wills, Chelsey and James, Doctor Joe Madden, and Reverend Ted Harrison.
