Trinity Weekly Update – Advent Hope

Hello Trinity Friends!

 
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent.  We light the candle of hope, reflecting on ways we can be a beacon of hope for others during this busy season.  Our Sunday worship includes a special sung Communion. Our Junior Choir will be singing as well.  Come early to sing carols.  The Carol sing starts at 10:15 am.
 
Following the Service, an Advent “Singing Bible Study” with Rev. Kathy will take place from noon to 1 pm in the Fireside Room.  Bring your lunch and come explore Advent and Christmas themes through the beloved hymns and carols of the season.  The Advent Bible Study will take place Sundays on November 27th, December 4th and December 11th. 
 
The Sunday School continues to rehearse for the pageant – all young people are welcome to participate!
 
Some Upcoming Events
* Kids Only Bazaar at St. Andrew’s United Church.  An opportunity for children 4 – 13 to pick up some great gifts for cheap!  Saturday December 3rd from10 am -12 pm. While the kids shop, parents are welcome to enjoy coffee and chat!
 
* The Joyful Bells – Handbell Concert – Sunday December 4th at 1 pm.  Carol Sing begins at 12:45 pm.  Free Will Offering to Nipissing Serenity Hospice and Trinity United Church

Trinity Weekly Update – November 18th, 2016

Hello Trinity Friends,

 
This Sunday is AOTS Sunday.  We will be joined by Melody Duncanson-Hales from the Manitou Conference Office.  Following the service, a hotdog lunch will follow. All are welcome! (Free will offering to Trinity Family Retreat)  You can stay for a hotdog and then join with your Trinity friends and family to cheer on our Superheroes in the Santa Claus Parade.
 
At 2 pm Trinity’s Board, as well as the Finance and Stewardship Committee invite you to attend a workshop on Stewardship practices with Melody Duncanson-Hales. Melody is a very enthusiastic and passionate about whole life stewardship. We will explore themes of how, why and when we give of our time, talent and treasures as individuals, families and as a Church.  All are welcome!

UCW Cafeteria Style Luncheon – Friday November 25th – 11 am to 1 pm
 
Downtown Christmas Walk and Lasagne Supper – Friday November 25th from 4:30 – 6 pm.
Join us for supper before the walk and then come back to warm up with hot chocolate. (Free will offering  to Trinity Families Retreat)
 
4 Trinity Cookie Walk
A cookie walk is scheduled for Saturday November 26th from 11 am to 2 pm (or until the cookies are gone).  Delicious homemade treats sold by the container.  100% of the proceeds will be used for Trinity’s maintenance and general expenses.  If you are able to contribute baking please speak with Barb Roberts. Thank-you!
 
Advent Communion Service – Sunday November 27th, 10:30 am

2017 Church Calendars are available now!  These make wonderful stocking stuffers.  The calendars are $5 each and are available from Janice Brownlee. 
 
The Watershed Shakespeare Festival is back this spring with Romeo and Juliet.
Christmas Subscription packages are available from Rod Carley now.  Packages include a ticket to any performance, 6 lecture tickets and a ticket to the Valentine Pop Sonnets Fundraiser.  These make fantastic Christmas gifts!

Trinity Weekly Update

Hello Trinity Friends,

Amidst the busyness of setting up for tomorrow’s UCW Christmas Tea and Bazaar, we paused at 11 am to remember and honour all those who give, and have given their life in service. Lest we forget.

The UCW Christmas Tea and Bazaar takes place tomorrow (Saturday November 12th from 1 – 3pm).  Come on down for tea and sandwiches and take time to browse the craft, bakery and white elephant tables upstairs in the gym.  

Join us this Sunday November 13th at 10:30 am for a special Remembrance Service.  Following the service you are invited to stay for the J.O.Y. Band Concert: “Musical Memories of the War Years”  The sing-a-long starts at 1:30 and the concert begins at 2 pm.  Admission is by free will donation (all proceeds to the Brain Injury Association of North Bay and Area). Refreshments.

The Sunday School Christmas Pageant rehearsals will start this Sunday during Sunday School.  If your child would like to participate but will not be at church this Sunday please contact Darlene Laferriere or Lisa Blais.

“Whole Life Stewardship” – Sunday Nov 20th at 1:30pm
All members at Trinity are welcome to join your Board after worship next week for a Stewardship Workshop with Rev. Melody of Manitou Conference. We’ll be exploring themes of how, when, and why we give of our time, talent, and treasure as individuals, families, and as a church.

Trinity Weekly Update – November 3rd, 2016

Hello Trinity Friends!

 
This Sunday, please join us for “Faith Speaks Out Sunday”. This Sunday we also dedicate our new More Voices Hymn books.
 
After church, we will be moving the stage into the sanctuary to prepare for all the special concerts and events that will be happening.  We are looking for strong individuals to help lend a hand lugging the stage pieces and assembling.  If you have a drill, please bring that as well!
 
The following Sunday November 13th, join us for a special Remembrance Sunday service.  In the afternoon, the J.O.Y.  band will be presenting “Musical Memories of the War Years.  The sing-a-long starts at 1:30 with the concert beginning at 2 pm.  Refreshments will be served following the concert.  Admission to the concert is by free will offering (with proceeds to the Brain Injury Association of North Bay and Area).
 
A reminder submissions to the Advent newsletter are due on Sunday November 13th.  This will be the only newsletter between now and Lent.  Please email items to Lisa at blais.trinity@gmail.com
 
The UCW Tea and Bazaar is coming up!  Saturday November 12th from 1 – 3pm.
Please read the bulletin for ways you can help and plan to attend –  this is a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas season.
