Trinity Weekly Update – May 26, 2016

Hello Trinity Friends,
 
This Sunday, we are delighted to welcome the J.O.Y. Band who will enrich our service with music. There will also be a blessing of prayer shawls. Thank-you to those of you who lovingly knitted these – they are a comfort and very much appreciated by all who receive them!
 
Next Sunday June 5th, the UCW will lead our service.
 
Announcements
 
This Sunday is the last day to bid on auction items. This is a wonderful fundraiser for our church – please take a look at the items and bid generously!
 
The AOTS has gift cards available to order this Sunday after church. Gift cards for gas, groceries, clothing, restaurants and more can be purchased. Consider stocking up for your summer travels if you are able!
 
Nipissing Manor – Communion Service
Tuesday May 31st at 2:30 pm. All are welcome!
 
Music for Mortar – JOY Band Too – presents a concert at Trinity United Church at 2 pm on June 5th. Proceeds from the free will donation will help support the repair of Trinity’s brick work.
 
Hope2Kenya Pencil Cases
Abigail Sanders will be downstairs after church this Sunday if you would like to sponsor a pencil case to be given to a child in Kenya. Cost is $5
 
Hope2Kenya Garage Sale – Saturday June 11th at Darlene and Dave’s house on Pinewood Crescent. If you have items to donate please contact Darlene (contact the church for contact information)

Please join us for worship this Victoria Day weekend at 10:30 am.  Next Sunday May 29th, we are joined by the JOY Band, who will enrich our worship with wonderful music.  
 
Some Announcements and Upcoming Events
 
A reminder to keep bidding on the wonderful silent auction items available.  This is a fun and friendly, fundraiser for our church.  Your support is very much appreciated.  Ever dream of conducting an orchestra – now is your chance!  Or maybe you would like to enjoy a sailboat cruise, or a lovely dinner cooked by some of Trinity’s fantastic chefs, or maybe you are throwing a party and would like to hire the Hosts to play…there are many, many items up for bid.  Check it out in the Fellowship Hall!
 
Bravo to Mustard Seed for a wonderful performance last weekend!  17 young cast members and their crew put on a great show.  Thanks to Rob Sanders who has videotaped the show – it is available to watch if you missed it.  It will be posted on the website soon!  Special thanks to all the people who helped to make Sailor’s bible happen: To our fabulous director Darlene Laferriere; to our wonderful musical director Brenda McLay; to our production team Jim Liddell, Caroline Harrison, Hannah McCallum, Samantha St. Pierre, Andrew Robinson (I’m not going to thank myself!); to our talented band members Anne Graham, Chris Clark, Mark Robinson and Joe Drinkwalter; to all our knitters/crocheters; the AOTS and UCW, and of course to all those who lugged stage pieces, posted posters, handed out programmes and supported the show in any way!  We are looking forward to Godspell in the fall and another Junior Production in the spring!  

 

I-DYG Youth Take a Hike in Laurier Woods on Monday May 23rd from 2 – 4 pm.  Meet at the trail head parking lot on Brule street.  Bring a litter-less snack and wear comfortable, appropriate foot wear!  

 
Don’t forget the UCW sponsors a Cafeteria Style Luncheon on Friday May 27th from 11 – 1.  It is a wonderful lunch at a very reasonable price.  All are welcome!

Mustard Seed Presents: The Sailor’s Bible – This Weekend!

The Mustard Seed Cast and Crew have been hard at work getting this fabulous musical ready for the stage. Please come out and support their hard work – you will not be disappointed! Why not come out on Saturday for dinner and a show – Hope2Kenya pasta dinner is from 5 – 6:30 and the show follows at 7. If you can’t make it out on Saturday night, there is a matinee performance on Sunday at 1:30. Break a leg Mustard Seed!

Trinity Weekly Update – May 13, 2016

Hello Trinity Friends!
 
We hope that you will come out and support the kids from Mustard Seed as they put on their musical: The Sailor’s Bible this weekend.  There are two showings to choose from.  You can come out this Saturday for dinner and a show – first, enjoying some delicious pasta from 5:00 – 6:30 from Hope2Kenya (tickets $10 Adults and $5 Children) and then stay for the show at 7 pm.  There is also a matinee performance on Sunday May 15th at 1:30 pm.  Tickets are $10 Adults and $5 Students
 
This Sunday join us for worship at 10:30 am.  Following worship there is a lunch available – all proceeds to go towards the purchase and repair of More Voices Hymn books.  If you would like to purchase a hymn book in memory or in honour of someone, please contact Jean Rideout.  You can call the church office for her contact information.  Hymn books, with a dedication plate are $22 each.
 
Some Announcements
A reminder that there are many items available for Silent Auction posted on the board in the Fellowship Hall (Sunday School Hall).  Please take a look and bid if you are able.  This is a wonderful way to share time, talent and treasure and raise money for our Church.  Bidding is open until May 29th.
 
Summer Student Job Available
Trinity and St. Andrew’s United Church are seeking a shared student applicant for an 8 week employment position. The student will provide leadership and assistance to a variety or activities (such as our Vacation Bible Camp program).  Training and leadership will be provided throughout the course of the job. As part of the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative, this position is only open to a full time student who intends to return to school in the fall.  Rate: $11.50/hr based on 30 hours a week.  July 4th – August 29th.  Application Deadline: June 6, 2016

Castaway for adventure with Trinity’s VBC. August 15 – 19th, 2016.

Trinity’s popular Vacation Bible Camp is now open for registration.  Click here for a registration form —> VBC registration 2016

Please note that we can only accept 50 children.  Please get your registration in early to guarantee a spot.  Camp bursaries are available by request.

We are also looking for youth volunteers to help with the camp.  Youth leaders will have fun while learning valuable leadership skills – and will earn highschool volunteer hours if needed.
