Trinity to host a Year of Lear in 2015!

TRINITY HOSTS WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE IN 2015!

Between April 16th and 26th of 2015, Trinity United Church will be hosting 14 performances of William Shakespeare’s celebrated “King Lear,” featuring renowned Canadian actors David Fox and Jeff Miller. In doing so, Shakespeare’s timeless work will be made accessible, and Trinity opens its doors in deepened service and hospitality to our community. Look forward to:

  • Our children’s drama program, “the Mustard Seed Players” offering their own adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”!
  • An Adult evening lecture series (Jan 14, Feb 11, Mar 4, Mar 25) to deepen our appreciation of Shakespeare and prepare us for the main event!
  • A night of Shakespearean music and love sonnets on February 14th!
  • A series of workshops for drama students, and high school matinees at Trinity!
  • Trinity’s sanctuary and worship will be enriched with Shakespearean surprises!

Here’s how YOU can be a part of Trinity’s 2015 “Year of Lear”:

  • Donate some time: We’ll need many volunteers to run practices and events smoothly, and play the gracious host to our many visitors from North Bay and beyond!
  • Donate some money: Any and all donations clearly designated “King Lear” will be recognized as a part of your tax-deductible church offerings. Members of “Trinity Arts” also have patronage packages which offer special recognition and gifts for generous Patrons and Corporate Sponsors—we’d love to hear from you!
  • Purchase a “Trinity Package Deal” before Christmas—which entitles you to attend the lecture series, the Valentine’s Evening, and the performance of your choice for only $75 total! (a 25% discount!)

For more information or to see a “Patronage Package,” please speak to a member of the “Trinity Arts” committee (Nancy or Brad Stenning, Darlene Laferriere, Rod Carley, Michelina Beam, Lisa Blais, or Rev. Ted). With your help, we’ll live up to our Trinity Arts mandate: “To use the many blessings of the Trinity Church family to enrich life and faith through the arts.”

Trinity Weekly Update – Thanksgiving Weekend w table graces

Hello Trinity Friends and Family!

This Sunday we will celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday!  A brass ensemble, Junior Choir and Adult Choir will lift up our sanctuary with joyful music and we will celebrate two baptisms.

During our service Thanksgiving Offerings will be collected to support Trinity’s Food Shelf and Benevolent Funds.  Offerings of food and money will be collected by the children during the opening hymn.  Thank you for your support of this important ministry!

A reminder that the UCW will be meeting on Tuesday October 14th at 1 pm in the Fireside Room.  All women are welcome to attend.

In Sunday School the children have been discussing thanksgiving and gratitude. Some have had the chance to make a decorative placemat of table graces.  If you have a child in Sunday School who made a placemat, these will be ready to pick up at coffee time this Sunday.  I have attached a file containing a selection of mealtime graces that you are welcome to use as you gather around your table. (see below) Enjoy!

For those of you who are travelling to visit family this weekend – please travel with care.  May each of you have a wonderful thanksgiving celebration filled with warm memories, laughter, and of course good food!
