Trinity Weekly News – Lent 2

Hello Trinity Friends!

This Sunday, we continue our journey through Lent. This Sunday, our service will be led by Rev. Kathy McCallum. Kathy and Rich will also be sharing a song during worship, as part of our “Songs that get us through the night” Lenten theme.

Upcoming events and announcements

Red Hot Friday Night – Chili cook-off and Live Music – 5 – 7:30 pm
The music starts at 5 pm with the Chili tasting from 5:30 – 7.
Prizes will be awarded for favourite chilis and best dressed/named.
If you would like to submit a chili or a dessert, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall or let Lisa Blais or Rob Sanders know. Admission is by free will offering (suggested minimum donation $10 per person)
This year, in addition to our regular musical offerings, the evening will be capped off with a musical Beatles tribute.  Narrated by Rod Carley and sung by our guest musicians, this will be a fun way to conclude the evening.

Saturday March 25th – Handbell Workshop
Want to learn about handbells?  The Joyful Bells Handbell Choir is hosting guests Marcia Gosse and Jeanette Caton from Rideau Park UC in Ottawa to lead a handbell workshop on Saturday March 25th from 10-4 at Trinity UC.  Cost is $15 and lunch is provided.   To register, please contact Brenda McLay at brenda.mclay@hotmail.com or phone 705-472-5253

LET’S PREVENT A CASINO FROM COMING TO NORTH BAY!
A casino, especially slots, creates addicts and contributes to family breakup, child neglect, bankruptcy, and increasing crime. Economically, a casino takes money out of a community. If you do not like the idea of a casino in North Bay, come to the City Council meeting March 21 at 7:30 p.m. where Rev. Jane Howe, on behalf of the United Church, will be one of the 3 presenters opposing the casino (business, church, and counselling perspectives). Please come and be part of the prevention!

AOTS Easter Ham’s are now available to order.  See the attached flyer.  Easter Ham Insert (1)
