Trinity this week – Summer Closure

Hello Trinity Friends,

We have just completed a very busy, fun-filled and hot week of Vacation Bible Camp fun (More on that later) and the church is now closed for summer break.  The office phone and email (as well as this one) will be checked periodically throughout the summer for emergent issues or pastoral care concerns.  The office will re-open on Tuesday September 5th at 9 am.

There are just a few announcements to share before I sign off until September.

This Sunday everyone is invited to worship at Carmichael United Church for the fifth Sunday worship service.  This will be an outdoor service with a hotdog lunch to follow.  I hope to see you there this Sunday at 10:30 am!

A reminder to all those who send in announcements and reports for the fall newsletter that those items are due August 26th to Ross Brewer.

Gratitudes for a great week of Trinity VBC fun

We had close to 60 campers and helpers learning how to be a GPI (God’s Private Investigator) looking for ways that God is active in our world and in each other.  There are many people to thank – first of all thanks to Marcel MacDonald and Abigail Sanders for helping me put together the week of fun.  Thanks to Amelia MacDonald, Kaydence Einarson, Andrew Whitehead, Lauren Moore and Nick Babin for helping to lead sessions each day.  Thanks to the many youth volunteers (some of who were former campers) who shepherded the children to activities and lent extra hands where needed: Sophia, Celea, Braunwyn, Malcolm, Ocean, Lily, Duncan, Erik and Alyssah.  Special thanks to our guest – Inspector Clue – Les Clue, who led our prayers and introduced our daily videos – which Andrew Whitehead so capably edited this year!  Thanks to our Minister of Music, Betty Farris, who showed us how the organ works – what a treat! Thanks also to former Mayor Al MacDonald for his starring role in our daily videos as well as all the other folk who took time out to play a role.  Last but not least, a summer camp army of kids marches on its stomach – so big thank you to Janice Brownlee. Jean Mitchell and all the many kitchen helpers who fed us delicious food each day!!!  And finally, thanks to the AOTS men’s group for providing ride tickets to the Carousel and Train.  We look forward to VBC next August!

Have a wonderful, safe and restful summer – see you in September!
