Trinity this week – Pentecost Sunday – May 19, 2024

Hello Trinity Friends,

We will kick off this Sunday’s worship with the Mustard Seed Theatre kids sharing a song from Jonah’s Druthers. Be sure to come a little early so you don;t miss it! This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday

 – we encourage you to wear your Pentecost colours (red, orange or yellow).  

Thank you to Rev. Lillian Roberts who has been keeping our Sanctuary tastefully and thematically decorated!  

Lift up your voices in a big Hurrah!  Our Lift repairs have been completed and inspected and we are back in service!  

This week’s bulletin is jam packed with events and announcements, once again!  Here are a few highlights:

Dinner and a Show – Saturday May 25th

Come out and support the Friends of Camp Caritou and enjoy a pizza pasta casserole dinner and then stay for the Mustard Seed performance of Jonah’s Druthers (the story of Jonah told and sung with a spagetti western twist).

Dinner is served from 4:30 – 6:30 ($15 Adults, $5 Children)

Jonah’s Druthers starts at 7 (Tickets $10 Adults, $5 Children)

Lunch and a Matinee – Sunday May 26th

Following worship, plan to stay for a sandwich lunch hosted by the UCW! We all know that church sandwiches are the best!  Then stay for the matinee performance of Jonah’s Druthers at 1 pm.

Things to do during Coffee Time after church

  • Pick up some delicious Maple Syrup in support of the Scouts!  Dave McKenney will be taking orders for Hubbert’s Maple Syrup as a fundraiser for Trinity’s Scouts. PRICES: 500ml jug- $15, 1L jug or glass- $25, 2L jug-$40, 4L jug-$70. 
  • Sign up for Rev. Ted’s Secret Book club – p.s. it’s the book that’s secret, not the club!
  • Register your children/grandchildren for Trinity’s Vacation Bible Camp program – registration forms are available on the table outside the church office.  Youth volunteer registration forms can be found there too.  VBC takes place August 12 – 16th.

Lunch and Music – Sunday June 2nd

  • Plan to stay after church for a fundraiser lunch hosted by the JOYFUL Bells and then Swing into Swing with the JOY Band – Sunday June 2nd at 1:30 pm – Featuring traditional, swing, jazz, classic rock and broadway musicals.  Free will offering

Participate in milestone worship celebrations – Sunday June 9th

  • The Trinity Youth Group will host its first Youth Led Worship Service on Sunday June 9th at 10:30 am. This Intergenerational worship service will take place in the Fellowship Hall.  Communion will be served.  The youth group have been working hard to put this together. Please plan to attend!
  • The United Church of Canada kicks off its 100th Anniversary with a special 99th Anniversary service on Sunday June 9th at 4 pm.  The service takes place at Metropolitan United Church in Toronto but will be livestreamed on YouTube.  Emmanuel United Church will be hosting a viewing party – more details to come!

Other Events to share

TRINITY YOUTH GROUP “Witchcraft and Wizardry” City Wide Mystery Event – Saturday May 25th 10 am.  All youth in Grade 7 and up are invited to participate in a mystery escape room style event.  We will meet at Trinity to prepare and then set out to solve the mystery!  RSVP to Lisa Blais at blais.trinity@gmail.com

Sereni-tea Death Cafe – June 6th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Nipissing Serenity Hospice – hosted by Rev. Tracy Davis. Join in for an evening of coffee and conversation with guided discussions on death and dying. Free of charge
