Trinity Update – February 13th

Hello Trinity Friends!

On this very cold weekend, why not consider warming up with some music, poetry and decadent desserts with “If Music Be the Food Of Love”, a Valentines Night fund-raiser for April’s professional quality production of William Shakespeare’s KING LEAR.  Saturday February 14th  7 pm in the Trinity Sanctuary. $20 tickets at the door.

Sunday February 15th we celebrate “Thinking Day” with the Pathfinders, Ventures, Guides, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Sparks, during our morning worship.  All current and former members are encouraged to wear their uniforms or bring in your badges,etc.  

Also this Sunday, we dedicate our new Sound System during our service.  Please join us!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper – Tuesday, February, 17th  5 – 6:30 pm     Come on out and enjoy pancakes, maple syrup, sausages and more!  Adults $8, $4 (children under 12), $20 family               

Mustard Seed Productions will be presenting a new musical this Spring!  This year we are planning a production of Dream On, a musical adaptation based on William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s DreamDream On is a musical comedy of mischief, mayhem, fairies and fools and is directed by Darlene Laferriere with musical direction by Brenda McLay.  This musical will be performed June 12-14th, 2015

We will be holding an information session at Trinity United Church on Wednesday February 25th at 6 pm.  We invite young people in Senior Kindergarten and up, to attend the information session.  

Red Hot Friday Night – Chili Cook-off and Musical Evening

The chili cook-off takes place on Friday March 6th.  If you would like to enter a chili into the cook-off please sign up in the Sunday School Room.  There are two categories of Chili this year:  Regular and Dessert.  Heavenly Hosts and guests will perform music for the evening.

Trinity Weekly Post – February 6th – 14th

Hello Trinity Friends!

In a few short hours Trinity’s Annual Coffee House talent evening will begin.  It is a wonderful evening where musicians, actors, dancers and other talented individuals showcase their skills.  The Heavenly Hosts and Trinity’s Junior Choir will also be performing.  Decadent desserts, gourmet coffee and tea and fantastic entertainment – all for a good will offering to The United Church of Canada’s Mission and Service Fund.  Doors open at 6:30 with entertainment beginning at 7pm.  All are welcome!
 
This Sunday (February 8th) during our morning worship, we will be joined by the Young Sudbury Singers.  Children in Grade 3 and up are encouraged to remain upstairs for the entire service.  Younger children in grade 2 and under are welcome to go downstairs for Sunday School.  Please remind your children that they will remain in church with you this Sunday.  Younger children will proceed downstairs as usual, after the children’s time.

No Fear King Lear Lecture #2 – Behind the Sonnets
Led by Tracey Berti – the secret and fascinating story of how Shakespeare’s sonnets came to be. Wednesday February 11th, 7pm.  Tickets $15  Reception to follow.
 
If Music be the Food of Love: an evening of love, beauty and romance. Featuring an evening of Shakespearean songs and sonnets performed by celebrity guests and followed by a decadent dessert reception.  Saturday February 14th 7 pm.  Tickets $20 (available at the door).
